Instagram post 2198083127442796009_26505182 We see thousands of photographs a day on this app so it's easy to forget sometimes that it can be really difficult to put yourself out there as an artist. I've spent the past few years discovering my style, what subjects I am into, what calls to my creativity. I've changed editing styles, I've shot portraits, macro, wildlife, before finally landing on landscapes. ⠀
⠀
But then I started to put myself in those landscapes and explore self portraiture and all the challenges that come with that. And it feels like I'm putting myself out there all over again, but more personal this time, because this time I can't hide behind the camera. I've put myself more fully into my photographs than ever before. That being said, I haven't lost my original love for landscapes and sometimes that is the only thing I want to capture, to leave myself out of it and keep it purely focused on the incredible scene before me.⠀
⠀
I had you guys vote yesterday in my stories whether you wanted more landscape-only shots, or landscapes with self-portraiture shots in 2020, and the overwhelming response from messages and my later vote whether to keep including both was a resounding support to keep it all. I can't fully express my gratitude for how that made me feel, and I want to thank every single one of you for following and supporting this journey. As I look forward to 2020, I feel so excited for what's to come, but at times I also feel so also delicate and unsure. The thought that you guys have my back and are truly so excited to keep learning and growing with me is what fuels me to create, to inspire, and to teach. Thank you all, and happy weekend. More to come ☺️⠀
Instagram post 2197343760256386508_26505182 Do you see the ❤️?⠀
⠀
The day spent exploring this canyon was one of the highlights of my southwest road trip. Deep reds, soft light highlighting the walls in certain places and then plunging it into a deep orange darkness in others - I was completely entranced by the patterns here.⠀
⠀
But once I got home, I had such a challenging time to edit these shots to echo the feeling I had seeing the play of light and shadow. I definitely struggled with the edits here, and I still don't feel like I have completely done it justice. I would love to return to explore again, unfortunately I just learned that the photography-specific tours will be shut down at the end of this year (don't worry, you'll still be able to see this place! Just not with a tripod 😭). I'm just happy I was able to capture it at all, seems like for once I got in at the right time. What places have you had a hard time editing photographs of?
Instagram post 2195909909776712264_26505182 🔥 𝐁𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐇𝐈𝐊𝐄𝐒 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐕𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐄 🔥

On my first post from here, I shared THAT shot everyone gets of this incredible road in the Valley of Fire State Park, and while it is definitely a stunning sight, there is WAY more to see and explore here! Swipe to see more of this incredible park, and *𝐬𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁* for future trip planning!

🔥 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝗪𝐚𝐯𝐞
This 1.5-mile hike is one of the most beautiful parts of the park. Red- and white-striped sandstone undulate before you for a fantastic photo opportunity.

🌈 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐛𝐨𝐰 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚
A quick 1-mile hike brings you to a large hill that you can climb up for jaw-dropping panoramic views of the park.

🐭 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞'𝐬 𝐓𝐚𝐧𝐤
This short 0.75 mile hike out and back doesn't end on the best views, BUT it's worth it to see petroglyphs on the way and to see where a renegade named “Little Mouse” hid out in the 1890's.

🐝 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬
This one is more of a climb than a hike - a short walk brings you to incredible sandstone formations, and a quick climb will give you stunning views of the park.

🗻𝗪𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬
Clocking in at 1.25-miles but some steeper sections, this hike features slot canyons, boulders to climb over, and lovely desert views!

𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
It costs $10/car to enter the park, and it closes at sunset and opens back up at sunrise, so if you want to come early or stay late, you'll need to book a campsite in one of the two campsites in the park.

Let me know in the comments below if you've been to the Valley of Fire, or if this guide has now inspired you to! 👇 #TravelNevada #valleyoffire
Instagram post 2192273216322575427_26505182 Bryce Canyon was as jaw-dropping as the Grand Canyon, and just as challenging to do it justice in photographs.⠀
⠀
Bryce's famous hoodoos are part of a natural amphitheater, caved out as a result of a wind and water erosion. The hoodoos are composed of white limestone, mudstone, siltstone, and dolomite, but the fantastic red and orange colors come from iron oxide, giving the hoodoos their striking, striped appearance. That's all basically to say that you have rust to thank for these incredible views! The geology of the parks have always fascinated me, so I hope you enjoyed learning a little more about these incredible landscapes. Comment below if you learned something new, and if I should write more info-rich captions! ⠀

In other news, this is the ONE YEAR anniversary of my photography business and I am so so excited for what is ahead in year two. I'll be working on my 2020 business, travel, photography, and everything in between goals, so stay tuned! Lots of exciting content to come your way in just 26 days now! 🎉⠀
Instagram post 2190100747423811559_26505182 This holiday season I have been trying to be very intentional about the products I buy, and who I am supporting with my purchases. I am also very lucky to be spending the holidays with my family, which is a privilege sadly not everyone has.

This Cyber Monday I partnered with @loveyourmelon to raise awareness for children battling cancer, because every child deserves to celebrate the holiday season healthy, happy, and with their family. Love Your Melon's mission is to put a hat on every child battling cancer, and they give 50% of their net profits to nonprofit partners fighting pediatric cancer. This Black Friday through Cyber Monday, Love Your Melon will be releasing 16 new products (including beanies inspired by one of my favorite kid films - Frozen!) and having big deals, so check out their warm beanies and help make the holidays brighter for families fighting cancer. #loveyourmelon #JoinTheFight
Instagram post 2189425245067167248_26505182 If ever there was a perfect American road trip view, this might be it. 🚘🔥⠀
⠀
I didn't know what to expect of this park, having seen so many photographs of this one single road. Turns out there is a lot more to it - I'll be posting a guide later this week on some great hikes in this area. It definitely deserves more exploration past this classic scene, but I can see why there are so many shots of this view. The colors of the rock are just unreal! Would you road trip here?
Instagram post 2187926191959422798_26505182 Happy 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐍 Friday! 💚 I've never been much of a Black Friday person - getting up at the crack of dawn to shop with hordes of other people didn't ever make sense to me. I would rather spend time with family and friends, or be outdoors exploring - experiences where I feel happy and grateful for this beautiful world and the people in it. ⠀
⠀
But our planet is struggling right now, and it's hard to even begin to grapple with how we can help make things better. I'm here to tell you - it starts in small actions. Smart purchases. Sustainable goods. Black Friday is a time of sales and excitement for the holidays, and there is nothing wrong with leaning into the full shopping glory. All I ask is that you take a moment to think about what your purchases are supporting, and I challenge you to put your money toward a cause you truly believe in. A cause I believe in is giving back to the planet, and so I joined @tentree as a #TentreeAmbassador.⠀
⠀
@tentree is an eco-friendly apparel brand that 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐬 for every item they sell - items made sustainably and with recycled materials. Our #GreenFriday goal is to plant 1 million trees before December 4th. It's the perfect time to get your holiday shopping done and to help leave a lasting positive effect on this planet far beyond this Friday. Use my code "𝐑𝐄𝐁𝐄𝐂𝐂𝐀𝐇𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐍" to get 20% off and 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 on your orders from now until December 4th! 🌲 #giftoftrees @tentree @tentreeambassador
Instagram post 2186500935357008313_26505182 Gratitude ❤️⠀
With Thanksgiving just one day away, I want to take a moment to reflect on gratitude. At this time last year, I was in Bali, learning how to actually make my dream job a reality. This past year attempting my dream job was an incredible journey, but it was also a cold hard dose of reality. I've struggled with finding gratitude for the moment I am living in now, finding it lacking compared to the destination I want to be at tomorrow. I don't think next year will be any less crazy, but I want to make one of my goals not about business or photography skills, or any other work or self-improvement ideals, but to start finding peace in the journey. To look for the happiness that is already present, to embrace all of the crazy and smile to think how far I've made it. How will YOU find gratitude in the small moments? Tell me today - what are you grateful for?⠀
Instagram post 2185780362645595870_26505182 1 or 2? Hands up if moody faces are difficult for you too! 🙋‍♀️

Sunrise day two in Zion was lacking for clouds, but definitely not lacking for a beautiful red-gold glow on the canyon peaks. Not pictured: the six other photographers sharing this view, being weirded out that I was taking photographs of myself. Plus my parents watching me take several photos until I thought I got the right pose. Nothing like trying to take a self-portrait with plenty of people watching! But at least this year has given me plenty of practice in keeping up confidence when others think I'm strange. Here's to pushing through and keeping your game face on no matter what others think. 🙌
